Cause I do sometimes….
I don’t expect perfection from those around me. I expect the effort to succeed. This shouldn’t be too much to ask - right? It just chaps me when people don’t try - or worse yet, lie about trying.
That’s it, have a great day everyone! Wohoo!

You know, oil prices going through the roof, oil execs getting $400 million for retiring, the potential for nukes dropped on Iran, declining levels of prenatal care in our general population, the largest swing in wealth from rich to poor in the history of the world, things like that.
Then I went shopping. Now, normally I hate to shop. The one exception I have is grocery shopping. I like to cook and I like to eat even more, so grocery shopping is a pretty pleasurable experience as far as shopping excursions go. I went to Super-Target. I like Target, they’re local for me and they give tons of money back to the community and schools - the local store has given something like $300,000 back to local schools, which is pretty cool.
So, I was wandering through the dairy aisle and I found eggs. This may not seem like a place that one would have an epiphany about the world, but bear with me on this one. In the case with eggs were the following choices: medium eggs, large eggs, extra large eggs, locally grown free-range-no-antibiotic eggs v1, and Wisconsin grown free-range-no-antibiotic eggs v2, pasteurized eggs. I’m sure you’re asking yourself “so what Bryce, eggs is eggs” but I have a different opinion.
Target is one of the largest retail store chains in the world. I know that they’re way behind the evil empire over at the W-Mart, but they’re still pretty big. 1/3 of the eggs sold at my local Super-Target are healthy eggs. I don’t just mean healthy to eat (which I believe that they are) but healthy in a more world-friendly way. These eggs are good. These eggs will never be blamed for Bird-Flu, they will never be accused of torturing chickens, they taste yummy and they are sold in a very boring and prevalent chain store.
So, I’m going to eat an omelet tomorrow. I’m going to eat an omelet made of the eggs I got at Target and I’m going to smile. I’m smiling because things are going the right way. Even if it’s only the eggs at a local store, I feel good about this and I know that in some small way my desire for a world with healthy food which leads to healthy people which can become healthy governments is not only my own, it is shared by people out there. My evidence? - eggs.
